Yes, this is a post about Christmas decorations. And yes, I realize we've barely finished with Halloween, but it's never too early to start planning for Christmas, is it?
Well, truth be told, it was not so hard for me to step into the Xmas Mood. My Xmas file has been bursting at the seams, with decorating ideas, for weeks. It's my favourite Holiday! Yep, I LOVE IT!
And as I approach everything in my home with a specific design strategy, I thought to myself, why should my approach to Christmas decorating be any different? And thankfully, in the 2018 Christmas season, there is no single significant decorating or strong colour trend. Instead, it is all about individuality. And holiday decorating can be so much fun - it's really the perfect time of year to unleash your inner creativity. You can dazzle everybody by crafting a warm and welcoming home this Christmas.
Here are just a few decorating ideas that kept popping up as I was getting inspired for this Christmas season:
Hot on the heels of the metallic boom in 2017/2018, we will still see a lot of metallics (think rust, rose gold, gold, etc.)
The Scandinavian influence, soft, neutral colours are combined with raw materials (imagine soft gold, brown paper wrapping, wood, bark, etc.)
The traditional Christmas colour red is still popular this year but add a little modernity by using a more intense red, like Persian red, raspberry red or wine red.
A (new) Green movement (think ultramarine green and olive green). Add some natural green, in the form of spruce and fir boughs, set on your tabletop or propped upright in a clear glass vase!
For me, Christmas has always been bursts of colours. But as this season was changing so did my thoughts - moody atmospheres are much more in keeping with the winter season, and it’s long nights.
I kept seeing simple and minimalist Christmas decorations.
Like Black & White, here's a twist - Ombre.
Let's not forget Rustic Chic - an ever-popular Christmas theme.
Thinking conventional, you can always decorate with stars. Just play up the texture (consider paper, with glass, with concrete, etc.)
And for the DIY-er here are some of my favourite homemade Christmas decorations.
So, whether you're looking for stylish, creative Christmas decorations or easy DIY projects, we hope our Christmas decoration composition will bring you inspiration and provide a little glamour and sparkle to your Holiday.
Happy Christmas decorating.
I would love to know what your favourite trends are or what you look forward to most this holiday season!
